Anambra Doctors Threaten Strike Over Kidnapped Colleague

Doctors in Anambra State have issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the state government demanding the release of their colleague, Dr. Steven Ezeh, who was kidnapped on August 15.

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Anambra branch, made the threat during an emergency meeting on Monday. The association condemned the rising insecurity in the state, calling on the government and security agencies to take immediate action.

Dr. Ezeh, a private practitioner in Ihiala, was abducted from his residence. The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N30 million.

The NMA warned that if their colleague is not released within the stipulated time, all doctors in the state will embark on an indefinite strike. While appreciating the state government's efforts in the health sector, the association stressed the need for urgent measures to address the security challenges.
